Artistic approach
From her innermost feelings, Anne Commet works on perception and allusion. If what surrounds her - the world, nature, music - is the starting point, her work is an emotional interpretation of it. Her large formats lead us into a physical experience of sensation and landscape.
The eye penetrates and wonders across the canvas where the pulsating colours make us lose our bearings: are we looking at a point of detail or a wider vision, a plant or something else? Is it real or just our imagination? There is no definitive answer so we are unsure. The artist invites us to reflect in a moment of tranquillity. By immersing oneself in the picture and overlaying it with one’s own emotions, the viewer creates something new which is both introspective and personal.
Anne Commet offers an experience in a wide range of colours where the superimposed, visible and invisible layers create complexity and depth. The elements and brush strokes come together in a process which combines creation and deletion, giving birth to new colour sensations. This transformed vision, which is borne of the interplay between memory, emotion and the pleasure of being in the painting, leads us to explore our own feelings.
